Seed of Chaos: What Mass Bombing Really Means

London: Bombing Restriction Committee/New Vision Publishing Company, 1944. First Edition. Wraps. First Printing. 118 pp. 12mo. Unsettling illustration on cover in black and red depicting bombs raining down on European city with searchlights in the background. Light scuffing overall, vertical crease along rear cover that has not split or torn. Interior pages have browned due to the quality of the paper. Very Good. Item #31964

A nurse during World War I where she experienced the stark destruction of life in modern warfare, Vera Brittain (1893-1970) campaigned for socialist and pacifist causes throughout her life. Her 1933 memoir, "Testament of Youth" about her time in World War I was a bestseller. This title condems the saturation bombing of German cities -- for which she was mocked. These quickly published booklets rarely survive due to the quality of paper and binding so this was quite a find!

Price: $300.00
