About Us

We are a small independent used and rare bookshop located in downtown Belfast, Maine. We carry a wide variety of books, from recent best sellers to one of a kind rare books that are hundreds of years old. We also offer new books via our site (click on the Buy New Books tab!)

We are also pleased to offer small art, curiosities, and cozy things that go with books in our shop!

A bit of history

We are the third proprietors of a rare and used bookshop at 99 Main Street. The original Old Professor's Bookshop was established here in 2008 and run by George Siscoe until 2022. Craig Olson took over the shop and ran Craig Olson Books from 2022-2025. We purchased the inventory from Craig and took over the space in 2025. We were pleased to re-open as The Old Professor's Bookshop and to carry on the legacy of this beloved little shop!
