Not a rare volume, but significant in that it is inscribed by the author, Martha Sandweiss, to legendary photographer Eliot Porter (1901-1990) and his wife, the artist Aline Porter (1909-1991). Martha Sandweiss was instrumental in acquiring Eliot Porter's archive for the Amon Carter Museum in Houston while she served as its Curator of Photography.
