Perhaps best known as the partner of Frederick Law Olmsted in designing New York's Central Park, Calvert Vaux (1824-1895) was trained as an architect and was responsible for the built environment of much of what we know come to visualize in Central Park. Vaux had a long career as an architect post-Olmsted and popularized his work and designs through this volume, which set the standard for what has been known as "Victorian Gothic" architecture. An important publication in 19th century American Architecture.
