Originally published in 18??, this later edition contained additional plates. The plates are stunning for their detail in documenting Tuscan architecture. Auguste-Henri-Victor Grandjean de Montigny (1776–1850) was a French architect who also studied in Rome and spent his most productive years, 1816-1850 in Brazil as the sole architecture instructor at the Academy of Fine Arts as well as an architect for numerous public buildings for the government of Brazil.
