Program from the dedication ceremony for the Canonicus Memorial. Canonicus (c. 1565-1647) was a chief of the Narragansett tribe who welcomed Roger Williams into the tribe when he was driven from the Massachusetts Bay Colony and granted him a parcel of land that led to the establishment of the Providence Plantation and Colony of Rhode Island.
